Aya Brea

After losing her mother in a car accident when she was a child, Aya grew determined to become a detective. She has been on the NYPD's 17th Precinct force for 6 months. Although quiet on the surface, she can be very stubborn and unyielding. She and her partner, Daniel, called "the father and daughter team", occasionally get into arguments because of her stubborn nature.

Daniel "Bo" Dollis

A veteran detective of the NYPD's 17th Precinct. Although he has 20 years of experience behind him, he believes "a detective belongs in the field" and is not on the road to promotion anytime soon. He and his wife, Lorraine, got a divorce a year ago, so Daniel raises their 8-year old son, Ben, by himself. He is Aya's senior as well as partner and father figure.

Melissa Pearce

An opera singer on the rise. Her long awaited wish to play the leading role comes true in an opera to be held on Christmas Eve. Although she is an introvert and was constantly sick as a child, she began to aspire to become an actress after learning about the opera. She occasionally commutes to the hospital even now and is always carrying some sort of medication.

Eve

The first form - The mitochondria begin to come to life within the cells of Melissa's body. After Eve comes to life, the colour of Melissa's eyes turn from brown to emerald green. Her hair becomes disheveled. The green flames that burn quietly in her eyes combust people into flames showing us the immeasurable power that the mitochondria possess. Kunihiko Maeda

A scientist who resides in the pharmaceutical department at a Japanese university. After an incident that took place a number of years ago, he has devoted his studies to mitochondria. Although a very competent scientist, he is completely indifferent to everything else. His clothes are untidy, and his hair is perpetually uncombed. When he is engrossed in his research he sometimes doesn't return home for days. Naturally, he has no luck with women.

Ben Dollis

Daniel's only son. After the divorce, Daniel takes Ben into custody, but his mother is given visitation rights once a month. He appears to be fine with his parents' divorce on the surface, but deep down inside he hopes that they will all live together again someday.

Hans Klamp

An American of German descent. He is a scientist who is cool, calm and indefferent who had previously aspired to become a doctor. His talent seemed promising, but during his internship he suddenly became absorbed in the study of mitochondria.

Douglas Baker

A big man weighing 300 lbs. He started on the same year as Daniel, but is now Daniel and Aya's boss. Daniel and Douglas were once partners and solved many crimes together. But, Douglas gradually shifter towards deskwork in contrast to Daniel who concentrated on the crime scene.

Maya Brea

Aya's twin sister, as a child.

Aya Brea - Age: 27

An FBI agent assigned to the Los Angeles division of MIST, the Mitochondrion Investigation and Suppression Team. Codename: NMC (Neo-Mitochondrion Creature) Hunter.

3 years ago, during the Mitochondria Eve revolution in New York, Aya, then an NYPD officer, joined forces with the Navy and contributed to the resolution of the incident. But at that same time, she was faced with the dilemma of the mitochondria within her own body awakening. After the incident in New York, Aya resigned from the police force out of consideration for her colleagues. She was quickly recruited for the undercover MIST organization and moved to LA to chase NMCs (Neo-Mitochondrian Creatures), which were spreading to the West. Due to the awakened mitochondria in her cells, Aya appears younger than her actual biological age.

Kyle Madigan - Age: 29

A smart and tough bounty hunter who likes to live life on the edge. Aside from hunting, he is skilled in many types of weapons. Formerly a member of the special forces, he became a bounty hunter because of the money and the thrill of the hunt.

Claiming to be a private detective, he appears out of nowhere while Aya is conducting her NMC investigation and offers to assist her. He appears to be competent, but his motives remain unclear.

Eric "Hal" Baldwin - Age: 50

The director in charge of MIST, and Aya's supervisor.

Always found back at headquarters, Baldwin relays his orders to agents in the field by phone after gathering all possible information. People call him "Hal" because of his cold, detached manner. Baldwin's agents have both respect and disdain for their stoic boss.

Pierce D. Carradine - Age: 31

An investigator assigned to the intelligence division of MIST. Pierce is perhaps one of the most important participants in the fight against the NMC threat. In charge of MIST training and communication, he is the source for information concerning NMCs and unusual disturbances.

A master at information "retrieval", Carradine is not above using the experience gained from his illegal hacking days to find what he needs. Due to his overzealous approach to his profession, he can sometimes find himself up to his neck in trouble. He is a natural loner with few friends, but he enjoys talking to Aya, who joined MIST at the same time as he.

Rupert Broderick - Age: 37

An investigator assigned to MIST, and another NMC Hunter like Aya.

Previously working for the FBI organized crime unit, Broderick was known for his good-natured attitude. After losing his family during the New York incident, he threw everything away and joined the MIST organization. Now a skilled hunter, he wages a personal war against NMCs, who he attacks with reckless abandon.

Gary Douglas - Age: 56

Douglas is a decorated Vietnam War veteran who lost a leg in a minefield.

After returning stateside, he started a scrap yard business in the town of Dryfield, in the high desert of the Mojave and has been living a quiet life with his dog, Flint. He is now the only inhabitant of the abandoned town. Douglas is also an avid firearm collector and a strong advocate of gun rights. With his knowledge of the desert and his weapons and armament expertise, Douglas might prove to be useful in the fight against NMCs.

Eve - Age: Unknown

Eve was cloned from Aya. She possesses incredible power and is being used in experiments, against her will.
